Offer a roomCotacot is based on a simple idea: housing students or young workers between Lausanne and Geneva in a local resident’s spare room.
This solidarity based accommodation agency was created by Sylvie Mery, psychologist and an avid follower of collaborative consumption. She is linking those people who have a spare room available – often elderly people or single mothers, with students can find it struggle to find accommodation.
She has three formulas: a room free of charge in exchange for various services, a room for a small charge and some services, or a room with no services for a moderate charge.
The services take many forms such as helping with homework, gardening, helping with computers, shopping or even just company. A charter, with the exact details of the agreement, is established between the host and the student to ensure that all is clear."La Côte"- Magazine
For Sylvie Mery, finding digs in a big town shouldn’t be a struggle. But when seeing the difficulties encountered by the students and young workers, this psychologist and avid follower of collaborative consumption, decided to found Cotacot: simply linking together those seeking accommodation and those with a spare room.
In other words, putting good tenants in contact with good landlords : a convivial and optimistic concept bridging the generation gap. For sure, Cotacot will serve all its users.
